This taco layer dip is one of my all time favorites with layers of taco seasoned cream cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa and shredded cheese. Eat it with salty corn chips and savor all the delicious flavors. My mom makes a similar rendition of this dip often for our family gatherings. She prefers to create hers without guacamole and adds diced tomatoes and lettuce instead. Both versions are scrumptious, with the main attraction being the cream cheese base. Add your own twist on this super easy dip and make this your go to appetizer to bring to your next gathering.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
- Use a submersion blender or hand held mixer to combine your ingredients for your guacamole and your cream cheese spread.
- Mix up the toppings, add a spicy cheese, tomatoes, lettuce or some cooked beans.
- Avocados a little under rip!! That's okay, bring it together by adding a dollop or 2 of sour cream to help it puree nicely into a smooth guacamole.
Ingredients:
For The Taco Cream Cheese:
1/4 Cup Sour Cream 1/2 Brick Cream Cheese Half a package of Taco seasoning
1 Cup Salsa For the Guacamole:
2 Avocados 1 Garlic Cloves, minced 1 Tsp Lemon or Lime Juice Pinch Salt and Pepper 1 to 2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese (feel free to mix this up with other cheese)
Directions: - Add sour cream, cream cheese and Taco mix to a bowl and whip together until smooth. (TIP: use a submersion blender to mix together quickly and easily for a super smooth finish) - Spread evenly into a dish with high sides. - Mash the Avocado, salt, pepper and garlic together (can use your submersion blender here as well), then spread on top of Taco mix in baking dish (dish with high sides). - Add salsa on top followed by a good layer of shredded cheese. - Eat with corn chips and enjoy.
Whether it's Sweet or Savoury, let it be made with love!
